The conclusion at a glance:

clinical research and the stories of many health experts show that red light therapy is an effective, safe and natural treatment for:

  • Weight loss
  • Size reduction
  • Fat reduction
  • Cosmetic improvements

Lose weight and lose fat

Losing weight and getting rid of fat is one of the most common health goals, for both medical and cosmetic reasons. Hardly anyone would say no to losing a few pounds or reducing some size here or there. This article provides an overview of clinical research showing how natural red light therapy can help people lose weight, tone their bodies, reduce fat and cellulite, and curb obesity.

When are you actually overweight?

You are overweight if you have more body fat than average and is considered healthy. This body fat is often on the outside of your body. As you may have experienced, excess body fat often accumulates around the abdomen, hips/buttocks, legs and arms.

Red light from the sun

Red and shortwave infrared light therapy can contribute to weight loss. Natural sunlight has always given us a feeling of well-being and more energy. The sun also provides us with vitamin D. But more importantly, the light the sun gives us affects our metabolism. This light has a frequency between 600-1000 nanometers, just like our NorahLux lamps. When our metabolism is started, there is a better combustion, not only of glucose but also of the fats stored in the cells. This results in weight loss in a healthy way. By using a NorahLux lamp daily, you create the same effect as the sun.

Clinical research shows that red light therapy helps with weight management and reduces fat

The positive effects of red light therapy on fat and cellulite, obesity management and cosmetic procedures have been observed in numerous clinical studies in recent years. And unlike many solutions recommended for weight loss, such as medications and surgery, red and short wave infrared light therapy is a safe, natural, and non-invasive option for getting healthier and fit.

Cosmetic body contouring:

Many people trying to lose weight want to look better in the mirror or on the beach. A wide variety of therapies for targeting fat and improving appearance are called "body contouring" or "body sculpting," some surgical, others non-invasive. But many of them don't work and/or cause unpleasant side effects. Red light therapy is completely natural and non-invasive and has proven to be an effective option for improving your physique or appearance.

How does light therapy work to reduce fat?

NorahLux lamps deliver safe, concentrated wavelengths of therapeutic natural light to your skin and cells, where it reduces oxidative stress and stimulates the production of cellular energy (adenosine triphosphate or ATP). Not only does that help your body function better, but researchers believe that red light therapy affects adipocytes, cells that store fat, causing the lipids to spread. In other words, light therapy helps the body get rid of fat cells. [3]

Overview of significant clinical research:

Smaller waist, less girth: a study in theJournal of Obesity Surgery researched red light therapy for body contouring. This 2011 double-blind, randomized study performed light therapy at 635-680 nanometers (nm) on participants for four weeks and recorded effects on their waist size. At the end of the study, participants had achieved a statistically significant reduction in waistline. [4]

Effective fat burning: in a similar study published inLasers in Surgery Medicine, participants who received light therapy showed a significant decrease in overall circumference, including many areas of the body. Researchers concluded that light therapy can reduce the circumference of specific areas of the body treated with natural light. [5]

Tighter hips and thighs: A 2013 study in the same journal also found benefits of red light therapy at 635 nm for contouring of the hips, thighs, and waist. At the end of the trial, researchers found an average loss of 7.59 cm in total size compared to the initial measurement. Separately, the thigh, waist, and hip regions all showed a reduction. Researchers concluded that red light therapy at this wavelength is safe and clinically effective. [6]

Less body fat: A 2018 triple-blind, placebo-controlled study assessed the effects of red light therapy on people doing endurance exercise. Researchers found that pre-exercise treatment can lower body fat in healthy volunteers compared to placebo. [7]

Weight en obesitascontrole: A study conducted by Brazilian researchers in 2015 assessed the effects of light therapy and exercise on 64 obese women between the ages of 20 and 40. One group exercised and received red light therapy treatments, while the control group did only the exercises. They concluded that red light therapy and exercise together were more effective than exercise alone in reducing fat mass. Researchers have also observed an increase in skeletal muscle mass. They wrote:

"Our results demonstrated for the first time that light therapy improves physical exercise effects in obese women undergoing weight loss treatment and promotes significant changes in metabolic flexibility."this investigation

A recent study published in 2018 also evaluated obese young women and found similar results. Some followed an exercise regimen + red light treatment, while the control group did only the exercises. The women who did exercise and red light therapy saw more significant changes in fat mass and insulin variables.

Researchers concluded:

"It was shown that exercise associated with light therapy promotes an improvement in body composition and inflammatory processes. In particular, the light therapy group presented positive modifications of WNT5 signaling, FGF-21 and ANP, potential biomarkers associated with brown adiposity processes. This suggests that light therapy in the clinical practice is applicable to control overweight."Source:this investigation

A 2015 placebo-controlled clinical trial reported similar improvements in obese women who used and were treated with red light therapy. Researchers also concluded that red light therapy could control cardiometabolic risk factors in obesity risk groups. [8]

Conclusion: think of Red Light Therapy for Weight Loss and Weight Management

A major advantage of red and short wave infrared light therapy is the convenience of having the treatments in your own home, with short treatment times instead of having to go to a spa or medical clinic for expensive contouring and fat loss procedures that can lead to unwanted side effects.
